The Kankakee Shadows Jr. Color Guard. The Shadows Jr. Color Guard got their name back in 1954 when the Jr. Guard was first organized. They often gave exhibitions and paraded following the famed Kankakee Senior National Champion Guard. Their uniforms, style and military drills very closely resembled the Senior Color Guard and the crowds were often heard to comment, "Oh, here come the Shadows" as they watched the tiny youngsters. At that time they averaged 7 years of age. The name Shadows became official the next year. Below are the original members back in April, 1954. Gary Cartier, Doug McNutt, Kerry Bierman, Bill Flowers, Jack Zinkann, Jon McNutt, Tom Mathews, David LeBrun, and Michael Kirchman. |
